On the 8th June we, as a nation, get another opportunity to cast our vote as we decide who will lead us for the next 5 years.
Many will have strong, well-established views on the way they will cast their vote, while others may still be giving consideration to the promises that the different parties are making.
Many will be confident about, or resigned to, the predicted outcome; while others may reflect on recent unexpected results in this country, the USA and even in France.
Of course, many will be tired of politics and prefer to discuss the weather!
Well, speaking of the weather, I recall just a week or two ago there were suggestions that we may be facing a drought this summer similar to that of 1976.
However, we have seen something of a deluge in the past few days and our water butts are full once again.
Apparently, contrary to the popular view, even the ducks don’t like rain!
At least, on this occasion, the weather forecasters were on the ball and we were well warned.
Whatever our favourite topic of conversation, there seems to be much that has proved unpredictable, not just in the last few months, but throughout our lives.
Whether it is the predictions of the pollsters, the promises of the politicians or the forecast from the weatherman there always seems to be good reason to take them with a ‘pinch of salt’.
In face of these and many, more challenging, uncertainties how good it is to know that our God will never fail us.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
(Hebrews 13:8)
Always
‘the way, the truth and the life’.
